Flowers in our garden Thursday, Aug 13 2009

This is a burgundy gaillardia.  I planted these last fall, so this is their first appearance.  I’m very happy with them!

This is the first time we’ve had sunflowers.  These seeds were part of a wedding present from David and Wa.  They’re wonderful!

Our black-eyed susans are blooming very joyfully this year.  Yes, Boodely, I do plan to get some to you eventually!

More flower pictures are on my Flickr site.  :)

Jerram Barr taught a class on the Doctrine of Sanctification which Tom and I attended.  Here he is autographing one of his books for Tom.

Our trip to England was all we’d hoped for.  This picture is taken on the bridge overlooking the river Cam in Cambridge.  Tom bought me the hat.  We ate lunch at the Caffe Uno (sign just over my hat).

Cascades: family, food, fireworks Saturday, Jul 4 2009

Hannah went with us to the Cascades last evening.  She said she enjoyed it—being with two “old people” (Tom’s words) sitting on lawn chairs for hours watching cars drive by.  :)

We actually got chilly during the evening.  Didn’t feel like summer, but at least no mosquitoes bothered us!

Performance Network awards at The Earle Monday, Jun 29 2009

Tom and I went to the members’ choice awards ceremony at The Earle in Ann Arbor last night.  As always, The Earle provided a beautiful selection of tasty items.   It was good to see David and Wa and to meet Lynch Travis, who won best actor award from the members.  A very nice evening.

Graduate open houses Monday, Jun 8 2009

Paul Bickel and Kelsey Hall web

Kelsey was one of my language arts students way back in 7th grade.  She is graduating with honors and headed for Grand Valley; I attended her open house and took this picture of her with her band director, another friend of mine.

.Meggan, Mindy, and mom

Meggan is another former student of mine; she took my poetry class while a student in 7th grade.  She is graduating with honors and will continue to run for Michigan State.  Many students forget about their middle school teachers, so the few who remember and invite me to their open houses are prized!

I’m ready to make our bed, but Bronx has decided to take his morning nap in the comfy bedspread.  I don’t have to heart to move him, so I guess I’ll make the bed later.

Tom’s son, John, installed all of this shelving for us last night.  Now Tom can bring the rest of his books and videos over to our shared study.  I’m so thankful John is so willing to help with various tasks!
