Afternoon break on my porch Friday, Apr 25 2008

New mats, indoors and out.  We took a break on the porch.  I had a cup of tea and read the newspaper; Petra watched the neighborhood.

Spring growth Friday, Apr 25 2008

Spring is arriving.  Perennials are showing, blossoms are coming, grass is growing.  It’s sunny and in the 70’s.  Perfect spring weather.  More pictures are on my flickr site.

Log Cabin possibilities Wednesday, Apr 23 2008

Boodely…these are for you.  I have only 15 done, so you’ll have to fill in the blanks.  Any preferences so far?

A new favorite place Monday, Apr 21 2008

This is a newly-opened window…in the sun.  She’s happy.

Visual overload? Sunday, Apr 20 2008

Posting this photo shows my mean streak, I guess, especially for those visually-sensitive souls.  Imagine:  This is representative of my mind/work at this point.  No counting here—just contrast.

“Extreme Sports” at home Thursday, Apr 17 2008

What I mean is “extreme pruning” at home.  This shrub was mightily overgrown.  WAS is the key word.  If it survives my cutting back, it will be very nice; if it doesn’t, I’ll do something else here.

This is the first shrub to experience the extreme pruning.  The little green clump coming up is a bleeding heart.

World Without End quilt Monday, Apr 14 2008

As of this morning (just finished one), I have completed 142 squares out of 224 (63%). Only 82 to go.  [Sorry, Boodely, I just have to keep posting these.] :)

New fabric Sunday, Apr 13 2008

My next quilt (5th) will be various colors in the pink/red/orange/yellow families.  As I find material I really love, I get some.  Found these earlier this week.

I had my eye on this Debbie Munn fabric, but lucked out today when I saw it was 50% off.  These will be incorporated into my pink/red/orange/yellow quilt.

First loaf of “almost no-knead bread” Monday, Apr 7 2008

After many weeks of procrastinating, I finally did it.  Using Boodely’s “almost no-knead bread” recipe from Cook’s Illustrated, I got up my nerve to bake my first loaf of whole wheat bread.  It’s cooling and looks beautiful; the proof, of course, will be in the tasting.

Log Cabin – five squares so far Tuesday, Apr 1 2008

log-cabin-squares-web.jpg

I have five variations of my Log Cabin pieced together so far.

Another view of the Log Cabin progress, including my continual piecing for the World Without End quilt.

A quilt that has caught my attention can be viewed on the following Flickr site:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/65592515@N00/2369336041/?addedcomment=1#comment72157604350207457

The one who posted this also has done a lot of beautiful work.
